Toby's Jewish Women's Circle - Chanukah 2021

Tuesday night was full of excitement at Chabad of Sunny Isles Beach, as Toby's Jewish Women's Circle got together for an exciting event. The theme was "Celebration of Light." 

Toby began the evening by explaining the day's significance, as the corresponding Hebrew date was 19 Kislev. The day we celebrate the liberation of the first Chabad Rebbe from Czarist imprisonment. On this day, Chassidic philosophy gained freedom as well, as the Rebbe's teachings were vindicated. We celebrate as beneficiaries who can now enrich our lives and relationship with each other and Hashem. 

"The unique gifts that women were bestowed with allow us to materialize the lofty ideas of Chassidic philosophy into practical outcomes," said Toby, as she introduced Rivkah Goldstein, a noted and famous author who spoke about bringing light into our marriage, parenting, and self-worth. Rivkah is the author of "Creating a Life that Matters, " a book she wrote for her only son as a "life manual" Though the subject matter was a serious one, Rivka has a way of expressing herself humorously, and she had the crowd enthralled. 

Next, the ladies enjoyed designing and crafting their very own granite menorah. The results were terrific, as the finished menorahs were displayed for all to see. Spiritual Food

In the seventh and final aliya of Parshas Ki Tisa, the Torah says, "While Moshe was on Mount Sinai, he remained there with Hashem for forty days and forty nights he did not eat bread, and he did not drink water." Whenever we eat physical food, we are nourishing our bodies, same to whenever we learn Torah and do Mitzvos we are consuming spiritual food, which nourishes our souls. Although when Moshe was on Mount Sinai, he did not eat any physical food, he did consume a lot of spiritual food by learning with Hashem the Torah for forty consecutive days and nights. In the seventy-eighth chapter of Tehillim (psalms), it says, "humans ate the bread of angels he sent them food for satisfaction" This verse refers to Moshe on Mount Sinai. Angels live off and are nourished by their understanding and by internalizing their intellect of the existence of Hashem that is what keeps them going, identical to that is what kept Moshe going on Mount Sinai.
